Before the match, we welcomed our Dutch and Norwegian players who participated in the World Championship final. Their number has risen to six, since Ida Alstad from Norway has also joined the team.

Kovacsics Aniko was absent from the match because she suffered a muscle injury in her calf at training. We’re hoping that by next Saturday she can return, but this time Nycke Groot was playmaker for almost the whole game.

1st half

The home team started the match but the opponent scored the first goal. ETO could get organized soon and took the lead. The difference was increasing continuously and by the end of the first half, we had a 5-goal advantage.

2nd half

Until the 50th minute the 4-5 goal difference remained, we couldn’t step away more. In the last 10 minutes, the difference between the two teams came out so we finished with an 8-goal win. Heidi performed excellently in the wall, she fought out several penalty throws and scored nice goals. Linn Sulland also contributed to the the victory with 6 goals, mainly by scoring penalties but she had two good shots from the back too. Nycke continued to play at the same level she did at the World Championship, scoring 7 goals with beautiful solutions, back shots and break through shots.

Ambros Martin: “We started the new year with collecting two points. In the past few days we had intensive trainings since the team has to get into form for the beginning of the Champions League season. This could be seen on the court too. All in all, I’m satisfied with the girls.”

Planéta Szimonetta scored two goals: “ We were looking forward to the first match of the year, we worked a lot in the past days which could be felt on the court. We have to reach a high level of play by the end of next week.”

Bakó Botond: "We could keep up with the pace of ETO for 50 minutes, then we got tired and made silly mistakes which the opponent took advantage of."
