The atmosphere of the last match of the 2017/2018 Hungarian League reminded us of Champions League matches thanks to the support of the nearly 5300 fans who were attending the season closing event. We couldn’t have found a more exciting sketch of the end of this crazy „goalscoring” race, as the final round brought the triumph of the heart here in Győr and finally, the Hungarian Champion-title went to Győri Audi ETO KC!
Congratulations!
Final result: 39-14

After a confident lead of Győri Audi ETO KC in the first half (20-8), the second half brought a tough game and fighting as well as Békéscsaba tried to push and to take under pressure the title-defenders, but the team of Győr has always had the right answers and the match has ended with 39-14 final result.

It was not enough for Győr to win against Békéscsaba by many goals, the girls in green and white should have scored as many goals as possible in order to make out the possible biggest difference. However, the fate of the Hungarian Champion-title depended on the outcome of the parallel going FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria-GVM Europe Vác match, which has ended 2 minutes later and eventually resulted in 42-24, which means that Ambros Martín’s team is the champion of the Hungarian League.
What a match and what excitements!

Horváth Roland: „First of all I would like to congratulate to Győr for defending the Hungarian Champion-title! We were not prepared for this atmosphere which we experienced in Audi Aréna Győr, but we made a lot of mistakes we should have avoided. It is hard of course to play against one of the best teams in the world, but we keep on working and trying to do our bests in the future as well. We wish good luck to Győr in the future as well!”

Zöldi-Tóth Kata: „Congratulations to Győr for the victory today! Obviously it is not what we planned and how we prepared before, but we should have played more concentrated during the match. It was really hard for us to play besides such an atmosphere which we faced on court, but I think we made a good job and we reached our goals, we remained in the first league.”

Görbicz Anita: „We were already really tired, but motivated of course before the match in order to play our game we planned. We were playing and fighting with all of our heart and soul, so I am very proud of our team that we were able to win the Hungarian Champion-title. I have never been experienced so long and nerve-racking two minutes when we were waiting for the result of the parallel match. I would like to congratulate to Békéscsaba for keeping their place in the first league and I wish all the bests for them in the next season!”
