After visiting the preparation of the Norwegian and French national teams, let's see how Montenegro prepares for the Tokyo Olympic Games. In this article, with the help of Jelena Despotovic, we can get an insight into the preparations of the Montenegrin national team.

Győri Audi ETO KC is represented by Jelena Despotovic of the Montenegrin team in Tokyo. The multi-position player has joined our team for the 2021/2022 season. We talked with her about the team's preparation before the Olympic Games.

How was the training camp, Jeca?

We started the preparation in Podgorica and we were there all the time, we just had two friendly games in Hungary.

What kind of work did you do in training?

We started the training on the 10th of June. The first two weeks were more difficult and tiring, with a lot of running in the program. After that, the handball and the tactics were in the main focus.

You're already in Tokyo. How are the first days going?

We have travelled to Tokyo a week before the start of the Olympics and spent the first two days adjusting to the time zone with resting after the long journey. So far, we didn’t have time to visit the Olympic Village. Our full concentration must now be devoted to our opponents, as we have already started preparing for our first match.

How much do you look forward to the Olympics? What do you expect from the team?

It is difficult to say how the Olympics will develop for us. I think all of the teams are very strong and deserve to be part of the Olympic Games. I hope my team will do their best and we’ll see what position that means.
