In the 7th round of the K&H Women's Handball League, Győri Audi ETO KC played away in Vác. In the first half of the game our team made a lot of mistakes, especially in defence, which resulted in a two-goal lead to Vác at half-time. The second half of the game started with a period with 6 - 0 to Győr, then our team increased its lead and finally we won to 37 - 31 in Vác.

Dorottya Faluvégi and Crina Pintea were still unavailable due to their injury, while Noémi Háfra was given a rest for today. Ambros Martín started with the  six of Szemes, Ryu, Oftedal, Blohm, Brattset, Kristiansen and Silje Solberg in goal. The match started with a home goal, which Blohm quickly answered (1-1). After ten minutes we had a three-goal lead (8 - 5), but in the fifteenth minute the home team caught up by one goal (10 - 9). With Győr leading by one goal in the 18th minute, Ambros Martín took his first time-out of the match, but the Vác team took the lead in the last ten minutes of the half (14 - 13). The first half ended with a 19 - 17 lead for the home team and it was clear that our girls will have to change their defence in the next half.

 

From the very beginning of the second half, our team's defence improved and after four minutes we led 20 - 19. In the 45th minute, our team was already four goals ahead (27 - 23) thanks to tough defence and accurate finishing. By the last ten minutes of the game, the gap between the two teams had opened further and Hansen took a seven-goal lead into the final period (31 - 24). Estelle Nze Minko scored in the fifty-sixth minute to tie the score at 10. The matchended with a man down due to Kristiansen's sending off, but in the end we won 37 - 31 in Vác by six goals.

 

Ambros Martín: "We saw two contrasting halves in the match. In the first half we were surprised by the home team, we had problems, especially in defence. In the second half we defended much harder and our attacking play became more confident."

 

Szemes Szonja: "In the first half we didn't defend as we had planned. However, in the second half we got our defense and offense together and managed to win today's match."
