Our team's French goalkeeper, Amandine Leynaud has informed our club that she will retire from her active sporting career at the end of the 2021/22 season. The excellent athlete joined Győri Audi ETO KC in the summer of 2018, where she celebrated a Champions League victory, a National League title and a Hungarian Cup first place. The crowd favourite aims to collect every possible trophy with the team this year.

A difficult decision was made by our club's French goalkeeper Amandine Leynaud. The experienced goalkeeper has decided to end her active career at the end of the season and starts competing in new areas.

"It was the hardest decision of my life to say that I will end my handball career this summer. I feel that now is the time. I am lucky to have won an Olympic gold medal with the French national team in 2021 and to have finished my career with the national team. Obviously, this also had an impact on my contract in Győr. Here at Győri Audi ETO KC, the best team in the world, I have won and achieved everything I wanted. I'm still full of energy and motivation, my goal is to help the team achieve our common goals in my last season and I would like to finish my career at it’s top, in my club," said Amandine Leynaud.

The President of Győri Audi ETO KC, Dr. Csaba Bartha praised the world-class player - "Amandine is not only a fantastic goalkeeper, but also an amazing person on and off the pitch. She is a true leader, a role model not only for her team, but also for the international handball scene, who commands great respect and appreciation. As a result of her decision, one of the best handball players in the world will be retiring from her sporting career this summer and bidding farewell to our club. It’s inherent in life that everything must come to an end once, so respect Doudou's decision. I can only speak highly of her, she is a great player and a great person. During her career, both at club level and as a key member of the French national team, she has achieved everything an athlete can achieve."

The club president considers it important to underline that the player's professionalism is demonstrated, among other things, by the fact that she has planned ahead for her future after her active years - "It is a testament to her dedication that in recent years she has consciously built not only herself but also her life after professional sport - she has obtained a goalkeeping coach licence and has been involved in the French national team's youth and adult teams. I wish us all the best for the 2021/22 season, and I wish her all the best for the rest of her life." - said Dr. Csaba Bartha.

The world-class French goalkeeper joined Győri Audi ETO KC in the summer of 2018. To date, she has played 131 matches in the green and white jersey and has scored 6 goals in these matches. In her first year in Győr, she immediately tripled his tally, as she celebrated a Champions League win, a Hungarian league title and a Hungarian Cup first place in the 2018/2019 season. After the 2019/2020 season, in which no winner was declared on any front, she won a Hungarian Cup gold medal with our team last year, as well as a silver medal in the league and a bronze medal in the Champions League.

The excellent goalkeeper moved to Győri Audi ETO KC after she played for Metz, Valcea and Vardar Skopje. Amandine Leynaud won everything with the French national team: Olympic, World and European champion.

We wish Doudou first of all to win everything with our team this year, in her last season, and then we wish her every success in the new chapter of her life starting this summer.
