It is already a tradition for two decades that every year the awards for the recognition of the most successful athletes and sport leaders of Győr. Due to the epidemic situation, the ceremony for the previous two year period, was held a little late at the Vaskakas Puppet Theatre -  this time they welcomed the best of Győr city in a narrow circle.

For both years, The Award for Best Team has won by Győri Audi ETO KC, the team captain Anita Görbicz taking over the prize.

"We can be proud of this recognition, since the sports life of Győr has always represented a very high quality and variety. It is particularly glad that, in addition to the recognition of the team, the club is involved in other awards. In addition to the accolades for the best coach, the Discoverer of The Year 2019 was Laura Kürthi, who first caught handball here at the ETO and who can say that she made her debut in the CL with a goal. Laura's recognition shows that our youth training programme is also in a good way. We will continue to work professionally in both the adult team and the training of youth so that we can remain worthy of such a prestigious award," said Club President Csaba Bartha– In addition, Eduarda Amorim, who became a world-class player here in Győr during her more than a decade at the ETO, has received a special professional award. "This shows that Győr and the ETO's retention power and quality of sports life represent the highest level in the world," continued the club president

Gabor Danyi was awarded as the best coach in both years. 'It's a huge honour and, of course, a thank you to the people who nominated me for this award and for whom I have been given it - I think of the club, the team and all of its staff. To earn such a prestigious accolade is a great pleasure, especially knowing how prestigious sports life is in Győr, and being the best of them, is particularly distinguished and feels nice. I am happy to take a part of the successes I have achieved during my years here, we are still trying to maintain this level and we hope that next year we will have a good chance of applying for the podium," said Gabor Danyi, who has been voted as the best coach of the last two years.

Laura Kürthi was awarded as the Discovered of the Year in 2019, and since then she has proved that she deserves this award in terms of her performance, due to she made her debut for her parent club's adult team and scored in the most prestigious international competition, the Champions League. 'It's a huge accolade for me and it's definitely given me a lot of strength to fight for my dreams and, in this situation, to get back on the field for being in better shape as soon as possible. I would like to thank for the club, my coaches, my family and my boyfriend for all the support because I wouldn't have made it this far without them," the young talent proudly said.

Eduarda Amorim took over  the Association of Hungarian Sports Journalists’ Special Award, said "I am very grateful to the city of Győr and to my club, because a large bag of medals and accolades is greeted to I have been able to play handball here and achieve the most important successes of my sporting career."
